#MyPhillyPoolTour2024
JULY 7, 2024
I have driven through this park frequently as an adult, but never looked at the pool area. The park was absolutely buzzing with energy this afternoon – in the air, with picnics, souped up cars and cycles on display, as well as multiple sports games happening all at once this Sunday afternoon.
This park is more alive than any of the other rec centers I have visited this summer (though today was my first Sunday tour, and I had other commitments yesterday so I haven’t visited any rec centers on a Saturday yet). There were active baseball and soccer games going on simultaneously with individual and family affairs this Sunday afternoon.
I have been studying Spanish a bit this summer on Duolingo but I’ve been slacking while I jump in pools. If I had been on top of my lessons I would’ve found this pool quicker… but finally, I remembered that “nadar” means “to swim” and was directed to the right part of the park by a baseball game watcher.
I can’t tell just from looking at it whether this pool is as big as Kelly Pool; however I will say this – it is very well endowed!
Once inside this wonderful watery monstrosity of a pool, I guesstimated it to be about the same basic size as the Cobbs Creek Pool or maybe even bigger like Kelly (I won’t be able to in my brain compare it to Kelly Pool until I go into Kelly Pool actually). The crowd was quite diverse, but sparse, only occupying half of the pool’s expanse.
I will be back!
