JULY 11, 2024
Way up in a windy, cul-de-sac-heavy maze in Northeast Philly, this playground pool has off-street parking, some shade, and a fair amount of sunshine.
The vibe at the pool is chill, but the shade from the oaks means some acorns at the bottom of the pool, so be aware.
They had half the pool divided for kids and the other half for adults. But aside from myself, they were only three adults in the pool, and they were in the two-foot section with their very young children.
There were stairs in the kids’ section, but the handrail only came up about 18 inches off the ground, so I’m not sure it would be ideal for assisting accessibility to an average-sized adult.
Otherwise there are ladders to get in and out of the pool.
There were life jackets on the fence for guests to use. Staff were OK with you bringing your bags inside the pool area.
The playground is modernized and really sweet. The rec center was open, with tiny little men’s and women’s rooms that had their doors propped open.
There were a few buses in the parking lot for various camps that use the pool and signs translated into I am guessing Russian though I could be wrong. Definitely an international crowd with everyone smiling.
A great time is had by all here. Not a lot of roughhousing or corrective anxiety on the part of patrons or staff, which is nice to see.
