Although its official address is 1101 Susquehanna Ave., Penrose Pool is actually located on the corner of 12th Street at Susquehanna.
The pool did not open til 1, and we were there at five til, but the young children who were there for camp were filled with advice and invited us to go down a jerry-rigged waterslide in the playground, which does not have a splash garden, but does have a hose extending from the pool area onto a sliding board. It was pretty amazing, though we are probably a bit too old for such rides. It was fast.
It was a great way to pass the time until the pool opened.

The pool was pretty awesome with campers and kids, partial shade, and amenities like chairs and portable stairs in the corner of the pool (they did not have a ladder attached), which was great as my wife just had the experience of landing hard on a makeshift water slide.
Personal belongings need to stay outside of the pool area, but inside there was plenty of seating and the mood was safe and playful.
